Entertainment Desk (Shashank Shekhar): Many movie buffs have heard of this 28-year old Cameroonian actress, Azah Melvine, based in the town of Bamenda, who started her journey towards Cameroon Film Industry (CFI) in the year 2013. There’re no doubts that the actress’s training with Ruphina’s House of Fame has took her to the level where she has become a name to reckon with in the industry today. The actress started her full time screen appearance in 2016 and since then she never looked back!
Being the youngest person to be awarded, the Cameroonian actress feels that “her greatest joy is to impact lives through art.” From the year 2017, she has been winning various awards like the Best Upcomer Award followed by Best Cameroon Actress Award at the Ecran Noire Festival (Black Screen Festival), to mention a few. Later, she also won the Best Actress Award at the first Edition of LFC Awards in Cameroon. Later, the actress travelled to Burkina Faso and won Best Central African Award and became the second Cameroonian to have won such a prestigious award in the history of Cameroon cinema. She has also been recognised for her exemplary work in performing arts at Yocicopo Awards 3th edition, in 2019 besides winning Actress of the Year award at NBACA and not to forget the Best Actress for a short film at Alan Awards, third edition.
Later, Azah got into production and produced 2 shorts films NGWENA, a story on child education and female genital mutilation and 3 Days in October, a story on Ebola.
Born on March 10, 1992, Azah, today, is a household name in Cameroon and Central Africa and is an actress that movie buffs don’t want to miss. She believes that a journey of success begins with a simple dream and must have characteristics like humility, punctuality and determination at every step!
